It’s been 25 years since one of the deadliest and costliest tornado outbreaks plowed across the state. On May 3, 1999, more than 72 tornadoes killed 40 people, destroyed 33,000 homes, and left behind close to 1 billion dollars of damage. One of the tornadoes, an F5, had the highest wind speed ever recorded.
