Two bills that would restructure the way Oklahoma does economic development have passed through legislative committees. The state chamber supports the bills. In one bill, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce would retain existing businesses and help them grow. In contrast, the other bill would create a new agency called “Oklahoma Edge,” which would be focused on bringing in new business to Oklahoma. There is no estimate as to what those changes might cost.
