Federal agency joins criticism


The Oklahoman acquired a federal performance review of the State Education departments handling of federal funds. The audit may be part of the reason a financial review was ordered by the state of the troubled agency.  The federal report covered over 2-point 7 billion dollars and found 32 out of 52 categories needed urgent attention due to missing data and lack of proper oversight. 

 

Billions of dollars in federal grants covering several programs administered by the state education Department are on a list calling for urgent attention according to a federal performance review.  The Oklahoman reports 32 out of 52 categories raise major serious questions for federal auditors due to a lack of data and proper oversight.
