The Governor says the state should get rid of the Department of Forestry, weeks after several deadly fires. He claims it would save 75 million dollars for the taxpayers. The governor was asked what evidence he had that the now-former State Forester, Mark Goeller, either didn’t use or delayed firefighting resources. He didn’t have any specifics on this, but said they were exploring the issue. In a social media post, Goeller said he had been falsely accused of not performing the duties necessary to protect life and property promptly.
