The House Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee has green-lighted a bill to block lawsuits against farmers as long as they follow federal and state regulations. House Bill 4118 modifies state law on management of poultry waste. In the past, runoff into state waters has occurred, which Senator Brent Howard says is out of farmers' control.
The bill is strongly opposed by Oklahoma tribes who fear will put more pollution into state waters.
