McGirt Decision Results in Major Changes in Native American Court Systems

The McGirt Decision has resulted in major changes in the Native American Court systems nationwide.


As Native American court systems grow in size to deal with the new rules on jurisdiction, a study shows a more holistic approach to justice. About a third of the 320 travel court systems now have programs with a healing and wellness approach instead of just locking people up.


The Muscogee Creek Nation in Oklahoma has reintegration programs, including financial and housing.
