ODWC Puts An End to Caviar-Funded Paddlefish Research

CLICK HERE to listen to Radio Oklahoma's Michael Dean provide info on the ending of the program.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will no longer be funding paddlefish research by selling caviar. The program operated for 15 years and gave anglers an option to process the spoonbill for free. In exchange, the department sold the fish eggs to pay for research.

The wildlife department said the paddlefish research center was a huge success, and now biologists know more about the prehistoric fish than ever before. Now that spoonbill research has ceased, they will put a new focus on other types of fish.
