A new Oklahoma law will speed up the process of terminating parental rights.
Today, a child can be left in limbo for months or even years before his or her future home is determined. State Senator Roland Peterson said 46 of the 50 states already have made similar moves.
“We are one of only four states in the Union that still have jury trials for termination of parental rights,” Peterson said.
Thousands of children can be impacted, and the clock starts ticking when the demand for a trial is filed.
