Governor Kevin Stitt signed what he called a historic school funding bill during a State Capitol ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Oklahoma teachers get a pay raise for the third time in six years, and hundreds of millions of dollars are added to state education spending.

“One 1.3 billion over the last 25 years, and over the last five years, we have matched that, and we have put 1.3 billion…,” Stitt said.

A crowd of parents, kids, lawmakers, and media filled the governor’s blue room for the signing event, and then the governor handed out a few of the pens he used to the children surrounding the table.
