One Oklahoma lawmaker says there is a prevailing misconception around women’s issues she is working to change. Republicans can do better, she said, but they are not ignoring these issues.
Republican State Senator Jessica Garvin said the legislature passed several good bills favoring women this session.
“Women’s issues are everyone’s issues,” Garvin said. “I think there is this misconception that Republicans- both male and female- don’t care...”
Garvin said passage of a bill extending maternity leave by six weeks was a big step forward this year.
