Political-savvy Oklahomans have seen this movie about tax cuts before. The next special session beginning Monday will likely be a ‘failure to launch.’ State Representative Forrest Bennett says the Governor has put the cart before the horse when it comes to selling the idea.
Last October, the Governor refused to go before the Senate Appropriations and Budget Committee to discuss the idea in depth. The Senate Pro-Tem has publicly said he will not have that chamber consider the concept until the regular session. The issue is whether the state truly has enough reserves to cut the income tax rate.
