When Shelley Zumwalt worked for the Office of Management, a company her husband worked for, it won a big state contract to upgrade computer systems for the state Employment Security Commission, which she eventually headed. Three times, she declined to reveal the apparent conflict of interest to federal officials. She told KWTV this happened in the middle of a pandemic, and the agency's computer system was still a mess.
A state Audit revealed the apparent conflict of interest, prompting the attorney general to call for her resignation. Zumwalt says she will not step down. Millions of federal funds are involved.
