State Budget Summits work to FInd Common Ground

The state budget summits have been described as a three-legged stool featuring the house speaker, senate president pro tem, and governor. The first meeting, although shaky, did accomplish two things.  Setting aside 45 million for emergency management for tornado relief and discussing a few items related to public education.  When it came to a proposed state income tax rate reduction, President Pro Tem Greg Treat wasn’t a player.  All three sides and their teams will gather again at the State Capitol to hopefully find common ground as a budget must be passed by May 31st.
