state textbook committee outlines gender roles in public school textbooks

The new rules the state Textbook Committee will follow this year to pick the textbooks for public schools, will include a review to make sure they follow traditional gender roles.  That includes the role religion has played in American history and liberties.  Opponents of the process charge it amounts to inserting politics into books that should be judged strictly on academic standards.
