A news conference hosted by the State Chamber gives high marks to legislation passed to improve the state commerce department. State Senator Kristen Thompson says one element is creating a Chief Executive Officer for the department. The economic development strategy plan will target new businesses as well as doing more to retain and grow existing businesses. The plan will be subject to annual review by the Senate President Pro Tem and the Speaker of the House.
